Cedar Park, TX - Information about the city
Cedar Park, Texas – a suburb north of Austin – is one of the fastest growing areas of the country and has been for some time. The city had a population of 36,792 people as of 2010 and that number is expected to grow by at least 20 percent by 2020.
There are many reasons for this growth including: - A more affordable cost-of-living than similar communities on Austin's west side such as West Lake Hills or Rollingwood (median home price $165,000). - Quality public schools and numerous private school options available - Easy access to major employers in Austin and Round Rock (46 minutes on I35) - Proximity to Lake Travis and Hill Country State Natural Area (50 minutes) - Easy access to shopping and dining in the Arboretum and Brushy Creek areas of Cedar Park (15 to 20 minutes) - A growing entertainment district with two movie theaters, a bowling alley, several restaurants and nightlife spots, colorful murals along the streets downtown, and an outdoor amphitheater for concerts. What is it like living in Cedar Park?
Here's what people had to say about their experience:
"As someone who works at the local Home Depot in Cedar Park located at 2700 E Whitestone Blvd, Cedar Park, TX 78613 I can tell you that we get loads of calls from recruiters here because there are multiple job opportunities available. The growth continues daily which is a great thing. The endless amounts of trails and walking routes will keep you in shape while the food scene is starting to get ready for a boom. The 3rd Friday night events are amazing because there are so many people trying different foods from all over the country, perfect way to meet new friends since everyone comes out for this." - Travis " As someone who lives in the Brushy Creek area this is my take. Access to major employers in Austin is great whether you live north or south of 183A. I'd guess that most people It takes about 20 minutes to get to any of the big companies near 620 and 35 from anywhere in Cedar Park. The school options are very good if you want your kids in public school there are two elementary schools, one junior high which feeds into McNeil HS where my kid goes, and a brand new HS opening next fall with an incredible engineering focus (they have JROTC though some parents complain about this). If you want your kids to go private there are a number of options from Christian schools to home schooling. The local entertainment district is small but growing, and has some pretty good restaurants and bars within walking distance. There's a new music venue that opened up recently that gets big names around here who can't fill Austin venues. Anywhere in Cedar Park is a short commute into the Arboretum area which is the opposite direction from the Brushy Creek area so those two areas share any traffic issues as they arise." - John "I have lived here for about 4 years now and I really enjoy it! We have family all over Texas and it's a great location to travel from as well as an easy commute to anywhere in the Austin area. We have lived in many places around Texas and this is by far one of my favorites! The cost of living here is very low, there are tons of great new housing options being built every year, shopping centers are popping up everywhere including an outdoor mall that opened last November with mid-high-end stores. I think the biggest plus about Cedar Park is one thing everyone has mentioned already - it's SAFE!!! It feels like you can leave your doors unlocked when you are at home or take a walk in the middle of the night without fear. There are no major crime issues here." -Ashley "I live in in this city and can speak to the school system here. I have three kids, one is in high school at McNeil HS (the top rated public school in Texas). The high school has about 3000 students so it's pretty diverse for a suburban area. We also have two younger kids who go to Brushy Creek Elementary School located at 3800 Stonebridge Dr, Round Rock, TX 78681 which feeds into O Henry MS which is ranked 75th best nationally according to Newsweek. And while not ranking as well as McNeil it still outperforms other schools around Austin that carry much better reputation than their actual performance. They are both great schools but if you want your kid to bust their butt studying then McNeil might be the pick for you." -Liam What is fire department in Cedar Park, TX like?
Fire department in Cedar Park, TX is a dedicated group of individuals who work tirelessly to help save lives and property. The main offices are locate at 450 Cypress Creek Road, Cedar Park, TX 78613. The fire department works with citizen's group such as neighborhood watches, CPR classes and educational programs that the public can take advantage of. There are currently seven fire stations that have been built throughout the city to better serve its residents.
Each station responds quickly when called upon for a service call. Each station has a fire engine equipped with tools necessary to handle many different types of emergencies. Some examples include car accidents, fires, snake bites and hazardous material spills. There are multiple ambulances available which provide emergency medical care when transporting someone or something from one place to another. While each firefighter may be wearing protective clothing, everyone is required to wear their respirator face piece during periods of emergency response. Respirators are used to help protect the firefighters from breathing in harmful chemicals or other hazardous materials that could be found at a disaster site. There are multiple education programs available to children and adults alike who would like learn what it takes to become a firefighter. Emergency responders also teach classes on different types of firefighting techniques so citizens know what the fire department does when they respond to an emergency call. Fire departments serve as valuable resources during an emergency situation because the responders are well-trained individuals who can provide assistance with anything that may arise during an emergency call, such as providing CPR services if necessary. There are also many times where civilians cannot get access to paramedics or emergency care during an emergency, but firefighters have the ability to provide some of those services. In addition, fire departments also take part in safety education programs which can help residents prevent dangerous accidents from happening at home by making simple changes around the house. Firefighters will check smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors that are installed on homes as a way of keeping families safe from the threat of a fire breaking out within the home. They also teach children about ways to stay away from open flames and other startling dangers they may encounter while young. Since this is a profession that involves putting oneself in harms way for others, those who become firefighters must be ready to make sacrifices with their time and their lives if ever they find themselves in such a situation.
